A manufacturing security walkthrough should follow the movement of people and materials. Production areas, contractor routes, loading points, and shift changes create different operating needs. This worksheet helps a plant team collect observations for a security review without turning the visit into a list of products.
Choose an operating route
Follow one representative route, such as a delivery from the gate to receiving or a contractor from reception to the approved work area. Record where responsibility passes between teams. Include pauses, waiting areas, and shared entrances. Ask the staff who perform the work to explain exceptions that may not be visible during a short visit.
Observe a change of shift
Note how people arrive, move through entrances, and leave when activity is highest. Record doors that serve several purposes and any informal routine that staff rely on. Avoid making a change during the walkthrough. Instead, write down the concern, the team affected, and the person who should review it with the appropriate site representatives.
Connect events with useful records
For each priority concern, identify the information needed to understand an event. That may involve an entry record, a delivery reference, a camera view, or an operator note. Record where the information is held and who may use it. Do not assume that several separate systems automatically share a consistent name or time reference.
Close the manufacturing security walkthrough
Group observations by operating priority and assign an owner to unresolved questions. Include environmental conditions, planned building work, and access restrictions that a technical survey should consider. Finally, define a practical follow-up: a review meeting, a targeted survey, or a repeat observation under different conditions. Keep the worksheet with the site plan so future work starts from the operating problem and the evidence collected, rather than an untested assumption about the equipment needed.
